PLOVER, WI — More and more homes and businesses in Wisconsin are looking to the power of the sun to save on energy costs.
Currently, there are 5,000 homes in the state that use solar energy and the interest in the business community is growing rapidly.
The Midwest Renewable Energy Association has developed a website designed to help businesses and homeowners determine the cost of installing a solar energy system, as well as the amount of electricity their system could produce.
Nick Hylla, executive director of the MREA says more people are currently work in solar energy than the oil and coal industries combined. He see this website as a way to help bring this national trend down to the local level.
“We see this as a tremendous opportunity to develop local assets, to transition investments locally, to produce local power and to create local jobs that can’t be exported,” Hylla said.
